Artist Statement

Art has been at the center of my existence since childhood, growing up amidst the ancient and mystical forms of my surroundings.

The natural world is a vivid source of inspiration, in its imperfect shapes and sometimes broken symmetry. Memories of home and travel, experiencing other cultures, sights, smells or fabrics and observing elements of past, present and future coexisting is another wealth of inspiration to draw upon.

Working within ceramics, clay provides the perfect medium to explore the cycle of creation, destruction and rebirth allowing me to evolve with the sculpture. The journey dictates the destination, along with the natural flaws and imperfections that present themselves. Imperfection provides inspiration in the natural world everything is always changing, faulty, fractured lines and vulnerability which have helped shape me as an artist.
